In February 2011 Discovery Research Group finalized a project looking at Russian glass markets. Among the manufacturers it is possible to distinguish 6 major players, whose general share in manufacture it is estimated, makes more than 90%: OJSC AGC Bor Glassworks, JSC Saratovstroisteklo, JSC Salavatsteklo Ltd., Pilkington Glass, OAO AGC Flat Glass Kleen LLC, Guardian Glass Ryazan. Among the major trends in the Russian flat glass market it is necessary to mention large companies transition to a more progressive float-production technology. At present the Russian glass market follows a trend to involve foreign capital, in particular, Turkish & Japanese investors are being actively attracted. Thus, in the Russian glass market there is now some stabilization in comparison with the recent crisis. Nevertheless, according to expert opinion, current profitability of the flat glass manufacturing is close to zero.
