The governor of Chelyabinsk region, Mikhail Yurevich, recently met with the head of Saint-Gobain Russia, Thierry Fournier, with the aim of discussing the possibility of Saint-Gobain investing in the region. It was necessary to analyze in detail the economic situation in the area & find out all aspects of the impending investment cooperation. Saint-Gobain has been in Russia since 1993 with 5 production sites of the company (for example, in Tatarstan & Moscow). However, for some time the company has been thinking of expansion. The eyes of investors flocked to the Urals. Thierry Fournier said: "The Urals is a strategically important market for us. The perfect location of the territory, right in the middle of the country, their own economic growth, availability of raw materials, what more could an investor want? We would like to develop here the production of flat glass, & the production of technical insulation. But apart from the Urals we are also considering other regions. For example, the Far East. I can not yet say exactly where we finally realize our production plans." Governor Mikhail Yurevich, in turn, stated the following: "Preliminary discussions with representatives were held. Now company analysts will decide to invest them in the southern Urals or not. We suggested a number of favorable conditions: Hold at its own expense the road to future production sites, to bring communications & provide legal support. In my opinion, it seemed a tempting offer."
