Rockware Glass has received the 2003 Queen's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development. The award is based on the advances the company has made in reducing environmental impact and increasing glass recycling by 58%. In commending the firm, the award panel commented: "The UK currently has one of the worst recycling rates in Europe. Rockware and its partners are helping to address this issue through public education and awareness raising initiatives, by providing a long term market for recycled glass and encouraging investment down the supply chain." The awards are the UK's most prestigious for business performance, judged by a panel of experts and involving an independent audit of the business.
