Rockware is to extend the dust filtering system at its Knottingley factory to 2 more furnaces following successful initial results from its first installation. The energy saving & emissions abatement technology is new to the UK, & was first used as part of its £35M investment programme at the factory. The plant's environmental package also includes cullet treatment & enhancement capacity & particulate emissions abatement equipment. Rockware installed the world's first servo-assisted O-I 10-section quadruple gob IS machine & the highest productivity line in the UK so far. It was also the first UK plant to install a very low emissions dust filter plant, which injects lime into the chimney emissions & then filters resulting dust. The dust is recycled back into the furnace. The system has been so successful that it is to install it on 2 more furnaces this year.
