Rmi Records Its Millionth Tonne Of Glass

Russian-based RMI has recorded its millionth tonne of glass recently, in conjunction with its 5th anniversary. The plant, the Group's first float line in Russia, produced its first glass 14 February 2006, and its saleable glass a week later. Since then, it has produced an average 567/tpd. The next million tonnes is expected to be completed significantly faster, at a rate of 5000/t per week. "With the experience we have gained, we can now manufacture glass of consistently good quality, at a faster rate and more cheaply than we did in the first months and years of operation," said RMI MD, Mstislav Shilov.
