Rexam Looks East

Rexam wants to develop its glass business in Eastern Europe following the sale of its UK factory at Barnsley to Ardagh. Guernsey-based Ardagh Glass, already owns Rockware, which operate four glass factories in the UK. Workers are concerned that the deal might result in job losses. The Barnsley plant will now operate under the Redfearn name. As well as the UK, Ardagh Glass also owns glass production sites in Italy, Germany and Poland. Rexam remains firmly committed to glass packaging and has 13 plants in continental Europe, with seven sites in Germany; one in Sweden; two in the Netherlands, two in Poland; and one in Denmark.
