Rescue Hope Stretches Deadline

The Mons commercial court has again heard the case of Verlipack, which went into liquidation some time ago, with the Ghlin and Jumet plant still for sale. The receivers are in favour of a continuation of activities at the two plants and the order book at Ghlin is good but Jumet is struggling. It is thought that a potential buyer has now expressed an interest and is believed to have started negotiations with banks and public authorities. However, it could be weeks before a financial package is agreed if a deal does go ahead. This has encouraged the receivers to argue the case for keeping the plants open and, as agreed by the court, the deadline has been extended to 13 September. (whole item)
