Report On Visit To Gerresheimer'S Wisthoff Plant In Essen

In November 2004, a group of ten ATIV members visited the Gerreshiemer Group's glassworks in Wisthoff, Essen, Germany. The factory operates two furnaces, one of which produces flint and the other amber glass, with each furnace having five production lines. This article takes an in-depth look at the plant, which employs 410 people and produces an enormous range of amber and flint containers of all shapes and sizes, from 5 to 1,000 milliliters, for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries and spirit miniatures. Around 73,000 tonnes of glass is produced annually.
