Chinese supply has eroded in recent years as rising production costs and tightening environmental restrictions have led to closures in Chinese capacity. The situation is particularly fraught for bauxite used in the highest calcined grades and according to reports, this market tightness is expected to continue and potentially worsen in the coming years.
