Over the next five to ten years, multi-billion Euro investments are needed in Russia to boost and modernise scrap metals collection and recycling. One major challenge is the setting-up of a nationwide network of 83 care recycling centres, as highlighted at the Scrap Metals Forum organised by metals market research body Rusmet and held recently in Moscow. Experts at the event called on the Russian government to lift "excessive" administrative barriers and controls. Furthermore, concerns about market prospects have been heightened by lower scrap exports to big buyer Turkey as well as by the unrest over Ukraine and the Crimera, as reported in this article.
