The increasing use of cullet in hollow glass production and its related problems are the focal point of discussion in El Reciclado del Vidrio en Iberoamerica, published in Spanish and Portuguese by CYTED (Science & Technology for Development). Representatives of eight Iberoamerican countries, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Venezuela met in Buenos Aires in November 1998 under the auspices of the Iberoamerican network for glass science and technology to gain more knowledge and analyse the legislation, management and technolgical aspects of glass container recycling in these countries. The reports given at this conference are presented in this publication with the first chapter comparing the different national situations and concluding with a chapter dedicated to a national report from each of the 8 participating countries.
