R&D Tax Relief For Lancaster Brewery

Imagine if the government paid you to taste beer.....Wishful thinking? Apparently not! One of the largest micro-breweries in the North West, Lancaster Brewery, recently received a sizeable cash sum back from HMRC for doing exactly that as a result of work it had carried out to find a distinct flavour for a new pint. In 2015, the brewery discovered they were eligible for R&D tax relief because of the work they were doing. R&D tax relief is available whenever a company (of any size) is developing new products, services or systems - or materially improving existing ones. If it is, then R&D tax credits are available to set off against a corporation tax bill or to claim as a cash sum paid back to a company by HMRC.
