Rawlings Belu And O-I Team Up To Produce Lightest Mineral Water Bottles

O-I has teamed up with Rawlings, an independent glass wholesaler (working in collaboration with Russian company NGO Belu) to develop ultra-light glass mineral water bottles for the UK market. O-I was able to reduce the weight of the previous light-weight bottles (750ml and 330ml) by 20 grams. A similar reduction in weight can save annually up to 850,000kg of glass, which is equivalent to 2.1 million bottles of wine, as well as reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 11%. Belu will call the lightweight bottles "Ethical Glass" and it is not intended only for Belu, but will be offered to other producers of mineral water. In addition to the impressive credentials of the bottles the manufacturer will pay 0.3p from each bottle purchased to the organisation Water Aid.
