Quinn Glass - Manufacture, Fill And Despatch Philosophies In Practice

This article puts the spotlight on Quinn Glass, Elton, Cheshire. It took Quinn Glass just over a year to build and bring on stream the larger of its two glass container facilities at Elton, close to Warrington. Commissioned in 2005 for a total development cost of £325M, the Elton plant features two of the world's largest cross-fired regenerative furnaces. Also included is a fully integrated automated warehouse and a purpose-built filling facility. The plant has capacity for 440,000/tpa and between 8 and 10 job changes are undertaken in an average week. Ware sizes from 125ml up to 1.5 litres are made on 13 high speed production lines.
