Glasspac has announced it is investing a further £500,000 over the next two years to promote the benefits of glass packaging to brand owners, designers and consumers in the UK. The money will fund a major expansion of the website: www.glasspac.com, increased trade press advertising and further promotion of the Shine Awards and other initiatives. The campaign will see Glasspac.com become a major source of information on glass packaging. For the first time, Glasspac.com will also include recycling information as well as detailed technical information and news about UK and EU legislation. The amount of glass recycled for packaging increased to 35% in 2001, according to figures released by Glasspac, the packaging promotions arm of British Glass. Total tonnage recycled rose by 3.5% to 587,000, an increase of just over 20,000 tonnes.
