Progress At Vidrala

Vidrala, the Spanish glassmaker, has completed furnace modernisation works at its factory in Italy that previously belonged to O-I. It has now moved on to modernising a furnace at its Lodio factory in Spain. Production costs maintained a good performance during the first half despite having acquired the two lower efficiency plants from O-I, with particular improvements at Vidrala's Ricardo Gallo plant in Portugal. There are still some synergies to be made, but Vidrala expects significantly higher energy costs during the second half. Sales have risen both in tonnage and price since 2004. (whole item)
