Profits Rebound At Vetropack

Vetropack, the Swiss-based glassmaker with growing production activities in central and eastern Europe, increased pre-tax profits by 51.1% in the financial year 2002/2003, to 38.5M Swiss Francs. During the financial year it acquired the Skloobal glass container factory in Slovakia, a step it believes will be important in meeting rapidly growing demand in the region. All its factories were operating at full capacity during 2002 and the firm completed the closure of its factory at Bulach in Switzerland. In Croatia, it commissioned a new furnace to meet new demand.
