A Practical Approach To Stress Measurement

Basic optical stress measurement in glass, is a practical guide which aims to provide information on the various optical arrangements and interpretation of results from typical plant apparatus. Written by McKenzie and Hind, it is intended to be of general interest to those making stress measurements within the glass industry. The 96 page volume includes a survey of methods available and outlines the application of these techniques to the measurments made during production. Relevant theory is also discussed in a non-mathematical way to give readers a background as to how the techniques work and an idea of the limitations of the methods when applied to glass products. The book can be purchased from the Society of Glass Technology, fax: 0114 263 4411. e-mail books@glass.demon.co.uk
