Ppg Industries Expands Fibre Production

PPG Industries recently outlined a number of expansions to its glass fibre production in response to growing demand in the US and Asia. ChopVantage HP 3610 fibreglass chopped strand, which is a reinforcement for use in polyamide compounding operations, originally made by PPG in the Netherlands, is now produced at the PPG plant in Shelby, USA, and also at the joint venture PFG fibre glass facility in Chia Yi, Taiwan. Most of the product research for thermoplastics is located in Europe, which allows PPG to develop and test products in this market before transferring the technology to other areas in the world. Production of TufRov 4599, continuous strand fibreglass reinforcement, is also being added to N American production, due to increased demand in Europe. TufRov 4559, formerly made in Wigan, is now produced at the Chester facility, USA.
