Ppg - Glass Fibre Expansion In The Netherlands

PPG has completed the expansion of its plant at Hoogezand in the Netherlands. The expansion has doubled PPG's worldwide capacity for DE cut glass fibres. These fibres are used to make glass fibre mats and to replace asbestos. However, the subsidary in Holland said prices have fallen in the first six months of this year and it has closed three ovens because of lower demand. PPG saw its net profit shoot up from Fl13.8m in 1995 to Fl40.8m in 1996. The company said prices were, in fact higher and there and there was a stronger demand. (whole item)
