Ppg Gains Exposure In The Roofing Business

PPG Ind Inc (USA), is providing engineering design and process technology for a new fibreglass manufacturing facility to be built at Clarksville, Tenn, for MW/MB, a joint venture of roofing companies Tamko Roofing Products Inc (USA) and IKO Industries Ltd (Canada). Under a long-term services agreement, PPG will also provide bushings, technical services, technology updates and employee training, and negotiate for supply of raw materials. The plant, which will have a manufacturing capacity of 150M pounds (68.04Mkg), is expected to be in service by early 2006 to produce wet-chopped strands for Tamko and IKO. The facility will provide a portion of the fibreglass needed by the two companies, which will continue buying wet-chopped fibreglass from the merchant market.
