[Plastics] Provisional List Of Additives Used In Plastics Updated

The EC published on 8 Jan/09, an updated provisional list of additives for use in plastic food contact materials & articles. This contains those additives for which a valid petition had been received by 31 December 2006. These additives are not authorised as such at Community level & substances on the list have not necessarily been evaluated by EFSA. The additives are, however, regulated at national level. From 1 January 2010, the list of additives in Directive 2002/72/EC, related to plastic materials & articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, will become a positive list to the exclusion of all others. After this date, substances on the provisional list may continue to be used, according to national legislation, until a decision on their inclusion or non-inclusion in the positive list has been taken.
