[Plastics] Industry Unites For Wrap Plastics Trials

Some of packaging's biggest names have teamed up with WRAP in an effort to develop effective methods of collecting, sorting & reprocessing mixed plastics. Sainsbury's & Linpac are among the companies involved in trials on a project that aims to demonstrate the business case for an integrated mixed plastics waste management solution in the UK. The project will be supporting large-scale trials to recycle mixed plastics from households & retail take-back schemes. It will show how these can be sorted & reprocessed into new packaging & other high quality plastic materials. The trials will include an assessment of how MRF facilities can incorporate mixed plastics & the best outcome for the film component in mixed plastics. The trials will be undertaken by a consortium led by Nextek & involve Sainsbury's, Valpak, Bowman Process Tech., Closed Loop Recycling, Linpac & CeDo.
