Plastics Business Sold In Favour Of Glass

South African glassmaker Consol has sold its marginal plastics business in favour of its primary business in glass. The glassmaker has sold its Plastform unit to plastics packaging group Astrapak and its Consol Flexibles unit to Polypak. Proceeds from the sale will be ploughed into expanding glass production capacity by 25%. The company also reported an increase of 12.9% in its glass operations from the previous financial year, whereas its plastics business had declined by 7.3%.
