Johns Manville plans to build a new pipe insulation manufacturing facility in the US to replace capacity lost to a fire last year. It proposes a world class automated factory to produce Micro-Lok insulation with capacity to meet future increases in business. A site is still being decided but should be unveiled soon. Full production is due to start by 2006, and will see an automated seamless production line from melting of raw materials through rotary glass fiberisation and mandrel winding to jacketing and final packaging. The new plant will include a significant investment for producing mouldable glass wool.
