Pilkington Shows Pre-Tax Profits

Pilkington has announced its interim results for the first half of 1999. Profit before taxation and exceptional items was £87m at constant exchange rates against £66m for the same period in 1998. Operating profits in the building products segment of the business were £60m, down on 1998 figures (£62m). In the automotive products segment operating profits rose by 18% to £26m. Technical products sales and profits were flat at £82m and £4m respectively.
