Pilkington Micronics To Close

Pilkington has announced the closure of its Micronics operation in Deeside, North Wales, which processes float glass for electronics applications. Poor market conditions have led to difficult times for the company, which will cease processing glass and close around the end of May. All 84 employees have been made redundant, however a small number of staff will remain to assist with the sale of remaining stock and equipment. The company is hoping to find alternative jobs either within the Pilkington Group or externally for employees being made redundant and professional outplacement specialists have been engaged to assist with this programme.
