Pilkington Announces Improved Results For Fifth Year Running

Prior to the release of preliminary results for the year ending 31 March 2002, scheduled for 29 May, Pilkington have issued a trading update announcement that was summarised by CE Paolo Scaroni who commented, "For the fifth year in a row, Pilkington will report improved results for the year to 31 March 2002. This performance is despite the deterioration we have experienced in our major markets in the second half of the financial year, where trading conditions were as bad as the Group has faced for several years. The new competitiveness which Pilkington now enjoys has underpinned our results." (whole item)
