The best in photonics and optics is to be showcased on September 3-4 at the International Arena in Cardiff, at the Photonex 2002 exhibition and accompanying Photon 02 conference. The event is expected to break records in participating exhibitors and visitor numbers. Photonics is a term which encompasses a wide range of products combining electronics with optics. Telecommunications is a big user of the technology and other applications include the medial, automotive and aviation sectors. But optics and photonics technology are spreading through many different sectors of industry and are expected to play key roles in the future. They also offer new technology jobs.
