[Pet] Ecoplastics Bottle Recycling Plant Given Green Light

Lincolnshire-based plastics recycler Eco Plastics has received planning permission for a £13M expansion at its Hemswell plastic bottle recycling facility. The go-ahead from Lincolnshire County Council will allow the firm to fulfil a new 10 year contract with Coca Cola. Eco Plastics will supply food grade PET to Coca-Cola. The expansion will give the plant the potential to double capacity. Production of PET will be able to rise from 100,000/tpa to in excess of 140,000/tpa, just under 50% of the total plastic bottles collected within the UK in 2010. Of this, 40,000/t will be food grade rPET pellet, an increase of 25,000/tpa from the plant's current capacity, almost 70% of domestic production.
