Fluorten, specialists in working with advanced technopolymers, says using DuPont's Vespel, available in 5 types, SP1, SP21, SP22, SP211 and SP3, has enabled the company to establish itself in the glass container market as a leading supplier of components for handling equipment. According to the Italian-based company, Vespel's low-thermal conductivity, high durability, extreme resistance to heat and lower friction coefficient, in particular type SP22 which is 40% reinforced with graphite, make it suitable for use in drives and for handling glass products which have just exited a press. Due to these product qualities, the use of Vespel SP22 results in less rejects and no line markings on the glass product. Fluorten says that Vespel components are sturdy and long lasting.
