Lithuania's Panevezio Stiklas (Panevezys Glass) said it plans to launch a new glass container production line, in an effort to recover lost positions on the local market and boost exports. Panevezys Glass' technical and production director Algis Bakonis said the company plans to start operation of the automatic glass container production equipment, which is currently being installed by Polish and German specialists. The Polish bottle producer Warta, which bought Panevezys Glass in the autumn of last year, has put 10m litas (US$2.5m) into the new technology. According to a report, the new owner has pledged to invest a total of 24m litas within 5 years, & to repay the Lithuanian factory's debt of some 117m litas over 10 years. The new advanced technology is expected to widen the range of glass containers produced in Panevezys to some 150 models from the current 10.
