Owens-Illinois Breaks Ground For Colorado Container Plant

Owens-Illinois Inc., broke ground 9 June 2004, for its new, state-of-the-art glass container manufacturing plant in Weld County, 60m north of Denver. The facility will be among the highest output glass container plants in the US, producing 1BN bottles annually. This is the company's first new facility in the US since 1980 and the industry first new glass manufacturing plant since 1982. Serving as the primary supplier to the Annheuser-Busch brewery in For Collins, the plant will employ 150 people when it opens in the summer of 2005. 7 of OI's existing glass container plants were selected by Miller Brewing Co to receive 2003 Partner's in Excellence Awards.
