Owens Corning Invests In North American Market

OC will expand fibreglass light density & loose fill insulation capacity by another 20% at its Toronto, facility to meet increasing customer demand in N America. The multimillion dollar expansion, which will be complete in early 2005, is the second at the plant in the past year. The firm will implement new furnace technology that will improve efficiency, reduce costs & limit disruption to the plant's current production during construction & startup. The firm is also initiating the process to build a 150M/lb-year greenfield light-density fibreglass insulation plant in the south-eastern US, subject to approval. Production could begin as early as the third quarter 2006 due to recent advances in the company's proprietary RHOAD manufacturing platform, which will allow the facility to be constructed nearly 15% faster than previously possible.
