In the latest development to affect Owen Corning's asbestos-related bankruptcy proceedings, bank lenders led by Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) want to sue medical professionals who read x-rays for asbestos claimants. The banks contend that the health professionals fraudulently interpreted x-rays as positive for asbestos-related disease. Owens Corning filed for Chapter 11 protection on 5 October 2000, in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware in Wilmington. The building products company has disagreed with CSFB over the value of asbestos claims facing the company, which Owens Corning plans to pay out of a trust.
