PPG Industries has developed a new line of EcoBrite organic inks for glass decorating offering a line of easy-to-use, thermally-cured, heavy metal-free inks that can replace traditional ceramic inks in decorating glass bottles & related items. EcoBrite organic inks can print multicolour designs & provide several important benefits. They are formulated to be free of toxic heavy metals & have been designed to be screenprinted using existing commercial bottle decorating equipment & cured in existing lehrs. The inks cure at low lehr temps (~180 deg C), resulting in significant energy savings. In contrast to traditional ceramic inks, they do not weaken the structural integrity of the glass container. As a result, bursting pressure of bottles decorated with EcoBrite inks is higher than that of similar bottles decorated with ceramic inks.
