Atlas Copco Compressors Ltd is supplying two of its largest oil-free compressors to Bayer Polymers Company Ltd, which is building a polycarbonate plant in Thailand. The compressors are specially fitted with energy-saving Variable Speed Drives & will form part of a pneumatic conveying system. The application is unusual, as compressed air demand is high & can vary greatly depending on the amount of polycarbonate granules being transported along the pipeline at any one time. Air which is 100% oil-free was essential to prevent the product from sticking together. To meet all the requirements, Atlas Copco has modified two of its standard ZR750 oil-free compressors to run with variable speed drives.
