Harrods is adopting Veen Waters in a glass bottle from O-I as its house brand for restaurants and food halls. The Knightsbridge store are to unveil a 330ml version for the Finnish water to complement the existing 660ml bottle later this month, June. Both formats use embossing to give a contemporary look to the brand's signature LongJohns, bottle named after the Finnish underwear design it is said to resemble. Veen MD Tomi Grönfors praised the protective and environmentally friendly qualities of glass as a packaging material. "It is totally inert, so never affects the taste of our water in any way," he said. The Lapland-based firm also uses Finn-Korkki's aluminium LuxTop closure. O-I is hoping work by Italian designer Francesco Lucchese will help promote glass packaging at the Drinktec exhibition in Munich in September.
