O-I Supports Global Operations With Chinese Mould Plant

O-I is targeting Chinese growth after opening a glass mould manufacturing facility in the country that will supply its global operations. O-I, which also has a mould facility in Brazil, said the O-I Tianjin Mould facility would help cement China as one of "the pillars of our business going forward." CE Al Stroucken said: "I am convinced that maintaining our position as the world's leading glass container supplier will depend on achieving that position here in the Chinese market as well." The facility is located 120km southeast of Beijing & employs around 300 people. It produces round & shaped moulds/blanks, as well as finish equipment. The facility is a joint venture with Yi Qing. Each mould can be used to make more than 2M containers.
