O-I Schiedam Plant To Close

O-I's container glass plant in Schiedam, The Netherlands, is set to close. Around 230 jobs will be lost when the plant closes in August 2017. The company said the site was no longer profitable due to overcapacity in the glass market, relatively high production costs, and outdated furnaces. Some employees at the site will be offered a transfer to O-I's other sites in The Netherlands, at Leerdam and Maastricht.
