O-I Expands In Us, Contracts In Canada

Owens-Illinois is to build a new glass plant in Windsor, in the US state of Colorado. The $30M plant will provide 150 new jobs and is expected to open at the beginning of 2005. The facility will manufacture glass containers, including 12 ounce bottles for Anheuser-Busch which has just extended its contract with O-I. But the firm has closed a factory at Milton, Ontario in Canada. The plant was opened in 1980 by Consumers Glass and has closed following a capacity review.
