In an all-Japanese project, Nippon Glass and Mitsuboshi Belt have developed a new type of glass pigment using minute particles of metal. The first product will be a grey pigment which Nissan Motor will use in the rear window of its 180SX sports car. Accoding to its developers, the new method, which involves enamelling the pigment onto the glass, is less prone to wear than traditional colouring using thin film. Mitsuboshi also plans to market green and blue pigments and expects the product to generate considerable sales in the future.
