Japan's Nippon Electric Glass Co., said it had succeeded in recycling cathode-ray tube glass from used television sets. The Otsu, Shinga Prefecture-based company is the first to succeed in recycling such glass, which will be used in computer display panels, company officials said. Reports say that it has been difficulat to recycle cathode-ray tubes glass into quality products because the items come from different manufacturers and vary in compositions. Nippon has developed a method whereby it is able to make new produts with a sufficient level of uniformity, using up to 15% of glass recycled from TVs of disparate companies, the officials said. The company is now capable of recycling cathode-ray tube glass from 10m 20-inch television sets annually. Moreover, the recycled material can be made into almost any kind of display panel, the officials said.
