Reports have emerged that a new glassmaking factory, TechnoGlass Industry, may soon be established in Ughelli, Delta State, Nigeria. Chinese-based Rider Glass Industries is said to be setting up the factory in partnership with TechnoGlass Industries of Lagos. The proposed project has brought attention to the delapidated Bendel Glass Factory in Delta State, which was abandoned for over 20 years and has since been earmarked for privatisation by the State Government, according to reports. The General Manager of Bendel Glass Factory, Joseph Ukpedor, claims that it will run side by side with the new factory, which is to be built nearby. Speaking on behalf or Rider Glass Industries, MD & CEO of TechnoGlass Industries, John Aluya, confirmed that the new factory will produce around 240/tpd once in operation.
