New From Wadworth

To celebrate the centenary of the Fleet Air Arm, Devizes brewer Wadworth has produced a new bottled beer. Packaged in amber glass, this one is unusual in that it is blended of beer and Pusser's Rum. Head Brewer, Brian Yorston said you did not need a huge addition for a positive flavour contribution. Adding spirit to beer is strictly controlled by HMRC and was only allowed as the addition did not significantly increase the %ABV. To help the rum flavour, dark Muscavado sugar was added. The beer is called Swordfish after the old biplane which helped see off the Bismark in 1942. Pusser's is the old naval recipe which is still controlled by the Admiralty and is distilled on the British Virgin Islands.
