A New Silica Brick Without Lime Bonding

STELLA GNL, a new silica grade, is characterised by a SiO2 content of 99wt% and has no lime in the bonding phase. In contrast to this, the standard silica grades exhibit a SiO2 content between 95-97 wt% and a lime content of around 2.5 st%. Based on the improved chemical composition, the new Silica grade has a higher corrosion resistance against alkalis and is a suitable grade for the crown of oxy-fuel fired soda-lime furnaces. For conventional firing (air-fuel), this new grade can be used at higher temperatures than standard silica grades.
