New Report Highlights 10 Case Studies Of Drs

Renewed interest in deposit return systems (DRS) has been growing, especially in the EU with the recent publication by the EU Commission of new waste legislation and even more recently the EU Parliament and EU Council agreement on the proposal for a Single Use Plastics Directive. Deposits have been identified, time and time again, as a potential instrument to help achieve ambitious collection and recycling targets and tackle marine litter. On 17 January 2019, ACR+ released a new report that examines the existing experiences with DRS for one-way beverage containers in ten European countries: Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. Relying on publicly available facts and data, the report aims to support policy-makers in making better and more informed decisions.
