What is believed to be the world's largest facility for the lamination of photovoltaic panels has been opened in Durham. The facility is operated by Romag, the glass processor, and has created a 6MWp photovoltaic lamination plant in a major investment that provides a leap forward for the construction industry. For many years the UK has lagged behind other EU countries in renewable energy resources, but now Romag can make panels that produce electricity by harnessing sunlight. Romag's CE, Lyn Miles says, "The new facility has been designed to produce laminated glass photovoltaic panels to be integrated into buildings. This is the first facility for this production in the UK and the biggest of its type in the world." Romag plans to export its PowerGlaz panels all over the world.
