German-based JSJ Jodeit is to supply the Wolomin glass plant in Poland with 3 production lines for borosilicate glass with a nominal capacity of 25/tpd. The melting furnace will operate according to a cold-top principle in which the melting process occurs vertically from the cold & heat insulating batch layer, which is fed by a batch charger & swims down to the bottom of the molten glass. JSJ has also begun constructing a melting plant for the manufacture of 10/tpd borosilicate glass for Chengdu Guangming of China. As the glass rods to be drawn must have near optical quality, a platinum system for refining & homogenising will be connected to the riser. The firm is also to deliver, supervise & commission a 30-tpd furnace for Mexican based Vitrocrisa. The new plant will operate an all-electric cold top melter for environmental, quality & efficiency reasons.
