New Glass Bottle Factory For Russian Whiskey Market

A new glass production factory has been built by Russian-based Actis. The factory came on-stream December 2016, and has produced the first batch of half-litre bottles for whiskey for domestic volume. Due to the devaluation of the ruble, the price of imported whiskey in Russia increased from 20-30%, while consumption fell by almost half. 2015 saw new state standards for the production of distillates, and analysts predict rapid growth in this segment. According to spokesman Anton Kobets, Actis is ready to fully meet the growing demand for new glass containers for the Russian market. The plant is one of the largest enterprises of the sector in Russia and Europe and is capable of producing a wide range of glass and quick-start production of very unusual bottles. According to the company, capacity of the market is estimated to be 18-20/m bottles per year.
